Banana

Bananas are high in soluble fiber and vitamin B6, apart from this, they contain a moderate amount of potassium, vitamin C and manganese. It is said that it helps fighting some types of cancer, like breast cancer.


Contrary to what people think, a banana is much more tasty as it turns darker. When bananas are gathered from banana trees they are in an inmature state. Literally, green. They are kept refrigerated and, then, distributed. When you buy your banana at your local supermarket, sometimes you find them still green, which is not better because the mellowing has not reached its peak, therefore, unless you like starchy tasted bananas, wait for them to ripen until they are yellow, or even better, with brown spots all over. I, personally, love when they are totally brown, yet not black (¬¬), because at that point most starch has turned into sugar and the texture to the mouth improves a great deal.



Some facts:

· Tree-ripen bananas are said to be much more superior in taste.
· Bananas are composed of 93% carbohydrates, 4% protein and 3% fats.
· Bananas also have phosphorus, vitamin A and iron.
· The amounts of energy one banana gives you are enough to exercise for about 45 minutes (for this same reason, instead of having a coffee when tired, it is much better and healthier to eat a banana.



Implementing bananas into the daily diet is a must. I very much doubt you do not like their taste so I think it should be an easy task. You should do this because it is a very good source of potassium. Potassium takes a very important part in several functions of the body like:



· Build muscle

· Build proteins
· Break down and use carbohydrates
· Control the acid-base balance
· Control the electrical activity of the heart
· Maintain normal body growth


One banana makes you feel satiated, so it can also help you losing weight by replacing a meal, for this very same reason, you should have a daily intake of at least one banana.



Lastly, you should know that the amount of bananas you can eat is pretty much regulated by your love for them, so, be it two or five or even ten bananas a day, you have not to worry about any damage to your body or any side effect... although ten bananas a day might be a little to much, unless you cannot obtain any other kind or fruit at all, which I doubt very very much.
